A Writing Diversion
I took a break to work on a different novel. No, that’s not a joke, but it is an accident.
Character Distinctiveness
I’ve dug into writing Rogue Planet in earnest…which meant realizing that I needed to take a step back and figure out a better way to manage the extensive cast.
Impressions Completed!
I finished the first draft of Impressions, which is now with my writing group and other beta readers for feedback before I start my cycle of revisions, solicit more feedback, and finally begin sending it out to possible literary agents. That the whole revision process lies ahead makes the “I’m finished” a bit less satisfying.
Impressions Map
I somehow wrote almost all of Impressions, which features a significant amount of travel for Raven, and lots of luxuriating in the worldbuilding, without even a sketch of a map. Only when my writing group began going through the story did I think to rectify the story’s tardy cartographic situation.
New Project: Rogue Planet
I am pleased to announce that my next project will be a science fiction novel tentatively entitled Rogue Planet.

Verdon’s Tragedy Sneak Peek
As you hopefully saw in our recent weekly writing update, I finally finished the first draft of Verdon's Tragedy, a side story set in the Fo'Fonas world. Even if revisions go smoothly, I don't expect a release date sooner than December 2022, but I want to share some thoughts about the story and the writing now.
