There’s a lot of conflicting advice about whether and/or what to read when you’re in the midst of writing. Some authors say that you shouldn’t read anything while you’re writing. Other authors say that you should only read outside of your genre while writing. Others claim that you should only read in your genre while writing. And then, because there weren’t enough options, there are the authors who say that you can read whatever you want when you’re writing, as long as it works for you.

Personally, I have to be reading something, all the time. I’ve tried not reading, when I’ve been especially busy at work, but it ends up actually making me less productive. So now I know to carve out at least some time to read, no matter how much the rest of the world may be falling apart around me.

My main love in reading is definitely the speculative fiction genre, which also happens to be where I do most of my writing, but I try to read as widely as I can. Here, you’ll find what I’ve read recently, what I’m reading now, and what I intend to read next.
