He at times writes of significant matters, but too many chapters are filled by inane diary entries and games played aboard the ship. There just isn’t enough substance to the book to make it worthwhile, especially at some seven hundred pages.
Autobiography of Benvenuto Cellini Review
With many caveats, this is said to be the first autobiography, which is the reason it ended up on my reading list. To be more specific, it is the earliest surviving autobiographical text written with the intent of being autobiographical in nature, as opposed to serving some other didactic purpose while being incidentally autobiographical.

Making It So is well written and has a few, mildly interesting segments, but it overall doesn’t offer much that is unique or freshly insightful in any broader sense.
Thoughts on Memoirs
Who's reading all of these memoirs? It must be someone, because I see all kinds of hubbub whenever a new memoir from some famous person comes out, whether that's a celebrity or a politician (who these days seem really to be little more than wanna-be celebrities who happen to have actual power over people's lives).
The Elephant Whisperer Review
Like I've said, I try to read broadly, but this book was pretty broad even for me. It's a nonfiction memoir type recollection about someone who buys a wildlife reserve in Africa, and adopts a herd of semi-renegade elephants. There are some really interesting bits, especially for someone who hasn't been to Africa, and then there are some parts that made me raise an eyebrow. So let's get into the review, shall we?
