Week of 26 June to 02 July

Time to start another month already, and we’re over halfway through the year. You can tell, because we’re halfway through Blood Magic‘s third season with this week’s release of Blood and Dragons, Part Two. Fortunately, I have almost five thousand words written of Trust but Verify, so I’m not too worried (yet) about getting August’s episode finished in time. I made decent progress this week, although I have some reservations about the episode’s structure that I will discuss in more detail in its release post.

My test readers’ main response so far to Verdon’s Tragedy has been intimidation. I guess a hundred thousand words looks a lot longer in a Word document then it does in book form? Ironic, since it would be more pages in book form.

I spent a fair amount of time this week working on site development and outreach, but I did make some respectable progress on that necromancer story. It’s at about thirteen thousand words now, and I’m projecting about twenty-one thousand words for its final word count. If you have any ideas for a title for a story about a story about a science fiction necromancer working on the Moon, consider sharing them in the comments below – it might just show up as the title for this story.

Coming up for the first week of July, I moved my post schedule around a bit to fit in a sneak peek for you of Verdon’s Tragedy, so you get to look forward to that on Tuesday. That might be a bit more exciting than Thursday’s book review for The Golden Verses of Pythagoras, but I’ll leave that for you to decide.

Don’t forget to follow the site for updates. If you want to connect about writing or reading, I’m always happy to interact through the site. I’ll be back next week with another weekly writing update.
