Week of 11 September to 17 September
A decent writing week to report this week, hampered by more time than I expected spent on revisions. Specifically, I ended up doing a full rewrite of Bread and Steel, which I thought I was finished with last week. With that finished, though, I don’t have to worry about revisions (aside from revising Dragon’s Hoard at some point before the end of the month, but that’s a short one) until this time next month, so I turned my attention for the remainder of this week to making progress on A Spiritual Journey.
That story is now sitting at about seventeen thousand words, out of an expected twenty-one thousand. I’m going to need to be very careful with my continuity revisions for the end of the middle part, but I think the story is progressing nicely now that I’m in the final part (unless I decide to tack on an epilogue, too – I haven’t decided yet). I’m hoping to have the draft finished by the end of next week, which would be a week ahead of my end-of-September goal. Since I’m getting twitchy about having time to revise it and work on Balancing Act, which I know is going to be a challenging write, that would be an excellent bonus.
No movement on side projects this week, but I did get a couple of blog posts written, and a few book reviews. Next week we’re going to talk briefly about marriage in speculative fiction on Tuesday. We have our book review for Brandon Sanderson’s The Well of Ascension, and the annual “Intergalactic Update,” which will actually be out on Tuesday, as well. Lots of new information to discuss in the Intergalactic Update, so make sure you give that a read, and don’t forget to fill out our poll, which you can find on our homepage.
